Ben Berry has held executive and management positions in sectors such as aerospace/defense, airport operations and transportation, state and local government, healthcare, and telecommunications. Berry is an inventor and visionary. He is the CEO for AirShip Technologies Group and is building the AirShip VTOL UAV Transformer transport vehicle. He challenges his team to build pilotless vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for the military that can fly 10,000 feet and drive on harsh terrain.
In tandem with the excitement of the AirShip VTOL UAV invention, the more intriguing aspect to this effort is the model used to create the vehicle. Berry has developed an Open Technology Innovation Model (OTI), a model that takes concepts from the open source development community and applies them to manufacturing. Dispersed teams that share a common vision collaborate to create a solution that is better than the sum of its parts.
